Message from the Principal
On Tuesday this week, many of our Year 6 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. I congratulate Year 6 students on their very reverent and whole-hearted involvement. May you all be open to the vibrancy of the Spirit throughout your lives.
A special thanks to Father Mark and Father Thonn for the work and guidance they have given to our children. Thank you and congratulations to the Parish Team, our Year 6 teachers and Mr O’Connell for such dedicated efforts in preparing the children. It has been our privilege to work in partnership with our parents in preparing our children for Confirmation.
YEAR 6 camp next week
I am really looking forward to joining our Year 6 students and teachers on their Year 6 Camp to Borambola (near Wagga Wagga) next Monday to Wednesday. We are looking forward to this educational experience, and our students have been waiting a long time for this (Year 4 and 5 Camps were cancelled because of COVID and their original camp changed because of flooding in the Northern Beaches of Sydney).
I am extremely grateful to the staff who are spending three days and two nights away from their own families to spend 24/7 with our students so they can enjoy the experience. Thank you Mr Kelly, Mrs Olive, Ms Manenica, Miss Manganaro and Mr Roberts!
Year 3 and 5 students will participate in NAPLAN assessments next week. Please ensure students are at school at times of testing, unless they are ill. Good luck to the students involved and to the teachers overseeing and administering these nationwide tests.
We wish all our mothers, grandmothers and significant mother figures in our lives a wonderful Mothers’ Day this Sunday! We hope you are spoilt and have a great day with your family. We pray for all our mothers and grandmothers who cannot be with us or who have passed away.
Have a great day Mums!
Good Shepherd Feast Day
This Sunday we also celebrate our Feast Day - Good Shepherd Sunday in the Church. Next Friday we will have a fun day to celebrate our Feast Day and our 20th anniversary. Students can wear casual clothes next Friday and we will provide them with a sausage sizzle for lunch (gluten-free and vegetarian sausages will be available). We will also gather as a school community to celebrate Mass with Fr Mark and Fr Bernie Patterson and have some fun activities for the students. More information and reminders next week.
Term 2 fees
Term 2 fee statements will go home this week. Fees are due on Friday 27th May, unless a payment plan is in place. Payment can be made by BPAY (preferred), EFTPOS over the phone, or credit card at the front office.
If you haven't yet submitted your yellow fee form, please do so this week.
Wishing God’s blessings on you and your families,

Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to the Year 6 students who were sealed with the Holy Spirit in Confirmation this week. May God bless you in your life and the Holy Spirit guide you.
A special congratulations to Cooper and Chloe for also receiving Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.
Learning to live with change and loss
Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Good Shepherd we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce and related circumstances, young people who have experienced change and loss more than 6 months ago may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering a very successful education program for children in Years 3 - 6, called Seasons for Growth which will commence in Week 7 on 6 June. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research which highlights the importance of social support and the need to practise new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and support networks.
If you think your son or daughter would benefit from Seasons for Growth we would encourage you to talk to him/her about participating in the program.
Good Shepherd is pleased to be able to offer this important program and we are confident that it will be a valuable learning experience for those who request to be involved.
If you would like your child to participate please complete the consent form here
I look forward to working with your children.
