Message from the Principal
Canteen - lunch orders on a Friday
Tomorrow, Friday 12th August, we will have our second lunch order by our new canteen meal providers. A couple of things to remember:
- all lunch orders are to be submitted by 1pm on Thursday via the QKR! app; and
- cancellations via the QKR! app can be made up until 8pm on Thursday evening.
We are very happy our Community Council has been able to provide this service for our families and children once again. One aspect we have worked on at Good Shepherd has been minimising our waste at school. We have introduced a saying 'Don't let it roam, take it home' and children are encouraged (and asked) to put any rubbish in their lunch bags and return this home to be recycled appropriately. This has definitely improved our school grounds with minimal waste and rubbish.
With the introduction of lunch orders on a Friday, we are asking that children with a lunch order also take their rubbish home with them. You may like to pack a lunch bag for this purpose. This will help with minimising waste at school, especially on a Friday, when extra food waste at school is likely to attract rodents into our classrooms. We appreciate your support with this.
Parent/carer assistance required
Each Friday we need the help of a few people to pack the lunch orders into class tubs ready for children to collect. The time commitment would be around 30 minutes from 1:20pm. The food provider will deliver the hot and cold food prior to lunchtime, and packing lunches into class tubs will be held in the hall.
Please complete the form if you are able to assist. Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Community Assistance Program (CAP)
One of the many incredible supports offered at Good Shepherd is the CAP program. This program is a practical support where home made meals are provided generously to the school freezer (via the front office) and then provided to families in need. Your child may come home with a note asking for meals to be donated in the future. We ask that all meals are able to be frozen and have all ingredients listed. If you are aware of a family in need (illness, death or other) please contact the front office so we can offer this support.
We celebrated the Feast Day of Australia's first saint - St Mary MacKillop on Monday 8th August. One famous saying of St Mary MacKillop is 'never see a need without doing something about it.' The donations of home-made meals is a practical and generous way in which we can all be like St Mary MacKillop in our daily lives. Thank you in advance for bringing the Heart of God to members of our school community who are currently in need of some extra love and support.
Wishing God’s blessings on you and your families,
