Dear Parents and Carers,
Another week has flown by, and students and staff alike have been working hard in classrooms.
As we make our way closer to Easter, I have asked students to bring in a can of food to give to those less fortunate. We hope to build a huge heart out of cans, and there is a prize for the class who brings in the most cans. It is important for all the children to realise that giving to others who may not have a warm meal every night is the way we can be the Heart of God in Amaroo.
This week we farewelled our Community Council. I would like to recognise the significant contribution all on the Council have made over the years. Mrs Erin Burrows has successfully led the Council as chair for 6 years and is stepping down to make way for the new governance structures. Our school would not be the vibrant place it is without the initiatives of the Council over these years.
All schools need volunteer parents and carers to help us and guide us to ensure we are doing the best possible job for your children. We welcome any interested members of our community to join us as we journey with you in the coming years.
Good wishes for the week
Trazel
This week is our fifth and final week of Lent. The Bible readings reflected upon during last Sunday’s weekend Mass highlighted Jesus’ key revelation about how people can truly see him. During Jesus’ time on earth, essentially anyone and everyone who had heard of him wanted to see Jesus and get close to him. Jesus explained everyone had the opportunity to see him and to know him. For that to happen though, their eyes had to be open wholeheartedly and honestly to what it was that they actually were seeing. Additionally, they had to accept what they saw.
In these Bible readings Jesus further explains that to see clearly, without the blurred vision due to daily life and other external factors, each of us has to metaphorically die and then rise again. We have to shed and discard our sins and temptations; all those things that we hold onto that keep us in the darkness away from God. Instead, we need to embrace the light and joy of life that comes from the inner peace of knowing and having a prayerful and personal relationship with God.

Farewell from the current Community Council
As you may be aware, following a CECG review of the current School Board and Community Council model, Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School has been asked to establish a School Community Council under the new model. With this change, the current Community Council members will finish at the end of Term 1.
We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering dedication and commitment of our Council members, teachers, staff, parents, and students. Your passion for our school's values and your willingness to go above and beyond have truly made a difference in the lives of our students and the broader community.
Thank you, sincerely for allowing us the privilege of serving as your Community Council.

It has been an incredible journey to lead this amazing Council for the past 6 years. The Council has been working tirelessly to support our beloved Good Shepherd school, and together we have tackled challenges, celebrated successes, and created lasting memories that we will forever cherish.
I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things that the future holds for our community and the incredible accomplishments that lie ahead. Many of the current Council members may seek to apply under the new model, however I informed Trazel and the Council that I would step down as Chair at this week's Council meeting. I am confident that the Community Council will be in capable hands and who will undoubtedly continue to guide our community with wisdom, compassion, and integrity.
